Flightworthy is the SS17 collection from Calibeth. Created by Atlanta based designer Callen Hoss for 2-6 year olds, the label is known for it’s signature black and white prints and minimalistic designs. Calibeth incorporate pops of colour in to the collection, which amplify the playfulness spirit of the label.
The collection allows children to mix and match original prints and ‘create their own artful collage for everyday adventure’.

JS: Where did you draw on for inspiration for the SS17 collection?
CH: I was inspired by some photographs from my honeymoon in St Bart’s. I love the beach and the memories behind the island and from there the collection started.
Nature has always been a major part of the print development for all collections. This season there is a cactus print inspired by the terrain of the island as well as abstract illustrations of coral. There is a good mix of tropical ease and European style mixed through the collection.
JS: Tell us a little more about the design process.
CH: We start with the prints and fabrics and from there the designs just start flowing.
JS: What’s new for the SS17 collection?
CH: For SS17 Calibeth introduces some new fabrics, for example you will find printed denim and cotton poplin.
JS: How did you arrive at the style you wanted to achieve for the SS17 Look book?
CH: I gave a brief to Kahran from Creative Soul Photography & Stylist Kiki Tillman. It was important to me to keep everything simple as our prints have a lot to say. We used white accessories and toys and even painted the children’s hair white. The Calibeth designs are clean and simple, but then you put them in our graphic prints and they become more than just a shift dress, it is art on clothes!
In the end once the images were taken we decided to add these awesome graphic lines to each photo to go with all our graphic prints.
JS: What is the overall style of a Calibeth Kid?
CH: Laid back with too-cool-to-care spirit.
(Please note that the SS17 collection is not available until March 2017.)
