Chit Chat Tuesday: Olcay Gulsen from SuperTrash

Chit Chat Tuesday - Olcay from ST. Girls

Good morning Chit Chat Tuesday readers! Joining me this morning is Dutch fashion icon as well as SuperTrash brand owner, Olcay Gulsen.

It’s no surprise the brand is so popular as Olcay has a fabulous sense of style as well as an eye for fashion! We have a lot to get through so let’s get cracking and find out some of the inside info…

Chit Chat Tuesday - Olcay Gulsen

What does SuperTrash stand for?

“The brand’s clear mission is to bridge the gap between high street and luxury labels. This mission has been translated into different fields, which has resulted in SuperTrash’s transformation from fashion to lifestyle brand. ST.’s core values are Power, Cosmopolitan and Sexy. ST. stands for Strength through unity”.

Driven and determined, Olcay’s signature style of sharp tailoring, natural confidence and sexy feminity was immediately apparent in her first collection launched in 2004.

What’s your favourite item of clothing in your wardrobe?

“I always wear high heels. It gives me a touch of femininity and confidence. And my favourite beauty product on the go is the YSL’s Touch Eclat, Rosebud lip balm for during the day and a Lancôme Juicy tube in the evening”.

What do you think about children’s fashion?

“I started our ST. Girls line because I saw a gap in the market for younger girls looking to follow high fashion trends. Equally, the ‘mini me’ look that has been gathering pace for some time truly suits the SuperTrash lifestyle. Children’s fashion is fun and fresh. It’s playful and light-hearted – something that can be forgotten in an ever fast-moving ‘grown-up’ fashion world. Going all out on kids design is a joy! It’s time to make playtime more fashionable”.

What inspires you for each collection?

“In general the inspiration comes from traveling, we travel to places such as New York, Tokyo, LA, Hong Kong, Shanghai and absorb the trends we see and translate it so it to our ST. Girls world. we take adult fashion and translate it to children’s fashion. The girl we design for is the girl who wants to imitate her big sister or her mom”.

What will 2014 bring for ST. Girls?

Even more fun and playfulness – the collections will have bright colors, cool prints and as every season, tees that come with a cute necklace or bag.

That’s all from me this week ! Join me next Tuesday for some more chinwagging! Big Hugs <3 Kate –x-
