Designed in Spain and inspired by French elegance Bonnet à Pompon creates beautiful easy to wear collections in a range of original prints and fabrics that the brand has become synonymous with.
Since it’s launch in 2009, the luxury Spanish childrenswear brand has forged a unique place in the kids’ fashion market by creating a classic meets contemporary style with an emphasis on quality and detail.
In this week’s Chit Chat Tuesday interview we catch up with Bonnet à Pompon’s General Manager Genoveva Escalada to find out what the brand has in store for 2021, how the brand has been effected during the pandemic and share with you some of our favourite pieces from the SS21 collection.

How would you describe Bonnet à Pompon style?
Bonnet à Pompon in one word is simply timeless.
The brand is synonymous with detail, original prints and fabrics and has a unique identity and style, how do you maintain this standard and style?
We are very meticulous with every step of our collections from carefully selecting the fabrics to closely watching our production chain and we pay special attention to every little detail. Our Design team develops our prints and that is why our signature is visible in every one of them, making our savoir-faire the strength of our brand.
What plans were in place for the expansion of Bonnet à Pompon at the beginning of 2020 before the pandemic started?
We did want to expand our presence nationally and were looking forward to new opportunities internationally, both online and physical stores. Brand-awareness has been our main goal this last year. Spanish brands are quite well considered abroad in the textile sector, and as we are part of this, we would like our clients to identify us when thinking of quality and stylish childrenswear brand.
How did the pandemic affect your business plans for 2020 and how was Bonnet à Pompon able to adapt to the changes?
Covid19 has left visible effects at every possible level. For example, we could not take part in the children’s trade shows where we show our new collections each season and with the uncertainty that the pandemic has brought with it, clients are a little more cautious about taking on new brands. With this in mind, we have adapted to changes and have concentrated our efforts on expanding through marketplaces, taking advantage of online market growth until physical channels can open once again.
Our aim is to keep betting for a solid brand awareness nationally and continue expanding our horizons towards an international level besides Mexico, Saudi Arabia and London.
With little glimpses of warm weather on the horizon, can you tell us a little about the inspiration for the SS21 Souvenirs d’enfance collection?
This collection brings back childhood memories like the smell of popcorn and cotton candy, summer, spending time with family and friends, summer festivals…… The curiosity of children.
Life seems to be better in summer clothes, don’t you think?
What is your favourite childhood memory?
I can recall having wet hair after having passed hours and hours in the sea, the joy and sound of laughs with my relatives and friends when being together having lunch. The more the merrier, indeed.
Are there any celebrity kids that you would love to see them wearing Bonnet á Pompon?
We would love the British Royal family to wear our clothes since we are aware that they rely on Spanish brands when having to pick special clothes for their children. Chiara Ferragni would be great as well since she is mum-to-be again!
Do you see the brand expanding into lifestyle products?
Some of our prints are very versatile and we have been analysing how we could use them in other ways to complement the brand.
We are beyond excited to start working with very special branches you wouldn’t imagine!
