The City And Me, an editorial by 20-year-old photographer Melanee Kate Thomas.
The City and Me was a last minute inspiration for a playdate with my camera and my darling model of the day, Coco. I was in NYC with a gap in my work schedule and an entire city to explore. So I schemed up a plan and shortly after Coco was sitting in my friend’s apartment on 55th street getting her hair curled. We had a bag of clothing from Zara and a few things pulled from the closet strewn across the couch. A smidge of fashion and Manhattan just out the door. We ran around the neighbourhood taking pictures anywhere it took our fancy. It was spontaneous. A fun adventure. A playdate with the city.
A special thanks to Rosie for letting us play dress up in her closet and turning her living room into a fashion show. <3
A little bit more about the photographer Melanee Kate Thomas.
I started my business when I was fifteen years old, and quickly discovered the artistic expression that can be found in photography. My work really took off when I started looking at it as an artform and not just a business. I’ve been shooting as much as time allows these past five years while finishing high school and starting university. I’m currently finishing my BS in Texas this year, but I move back to the east coast and start photographing full time this upcoming May after I graduate!
