Perhaps my favourite aspect of travelling is discovering makers and brands from around the globe.  Talented artisans and unique creations remind us of the time we spent in distant lands.  Our summer travels led us on an adventure in Edinburgh where we stumbled upon a hidden gem.  This enchanting city is home to the equally enchanting childrenswear brand, Selenita.

Selenita, carries beautiful hand-smocked and embroidered garments in an array of heavenly fabrics.  All pieces are designed by the shop’s owner and brought to life by the hands of meticulous seamstresses in Spain.  Even if you don’t have children to buy for, this shop is not to be missed when visiting Edinburgh, if nothing else than to marvel at the gorgeous dresses and coats flanking the walls.

Upon returning home to the States, we’ve been greeted by the most glorious fall one could imagine.  Sun-filled days and leaves aglow with colour have been taunting us to get outside.  In our neck of the woods, there is no better place to explore than The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, a feast for the eyes this time of year.  A diverse selection of exotic trees and shrubs are showing us their true colours from fireball red to burnt oranges and bright yellows.  It is a magical place perfectly suited for sisters who feel at home among these trees.

At home, imaginary play takes centre stage and we pretend we’re back in Edinburgh, skipping down cobbled sidewalks and taking a stroll along the Water of Leith.  We’re certain to return someday where you’ll very likely find us admiring more wonderful creations at Selenita on Thistle Street.
