GlamZ Gala: Vancouver’s New youth fashion and art event brings designers and aspiring models to the runway.
GlamZ Gala, the youth fashion and art event, held at the luxury Parq Resort in Vancouver, showcased aspiring models and talented designers including Mayoral, Stella M’Lia, Young Gods, Aspire Style, Two Sisters Dresses, and Kayzie Couture.
The GlamZ Gala event is an inclusive event for youth and models of all body shapes and abilities. The goal of the event is to provide an opportunity for self-development and for youth to build confidence and meet new friends.
Stella M’Lia, a perfectly posh label catering to tween and teen girls, showcased dresses that were full of colour and feminine silhouettes. Two Sisters Dresses sent princess dresses down the runway, wowing the audience with a floor length and layered gowns. Aspire Style showed a new collection of rompers, skirts, and playful dresses, all worn by models who looked ready for a jet-set vacation. Mayoral showed daywear and casual looks for dapper young boys and chic girls. Luxury Award-winning designer, Young Gods, created larger-than-life looks for the opulent youngster. Kayzie Couture showed looks for tween and teen girls, including black cut-out dresses, adorned with pearls, as well as bright-coloured outfits paired with headpieces and fun accessories.
Talented and adorable models were sent through an audition process, helping to find the perfect models to fill the stage at the GlamZ Gala show. Up and coming names included Hawaii McLaughlin, Milana Spark, Sage and Asia Reber, Rebecca Batalla, Alexis and Avery Chan, Kelty Allanach, Tristan Stansfield, Olivia Zhang, Chloe Pun, and Amaya Cruz, to name a few.
“GlamZ was an inspiring fashion show for young and teen models,” said Lily Ta, a volunteer and attendee. “That kind of confidence seems rare for their age group.”
Behind the scenes of the show was an assembly of talent helping put on the event. The creative HMUA team did beauty and hair, keeping the fabulous nature of the show alive. The media team included talented photographers Tilly Nelson, Yvonne Hanson, and many others who snapped amazing photos backstage and on the runway.
The afternoon was complete with special guests and performances, spectacular dresses, and adorable faces. At the end of the event, three lucky models were awarded opportunities to walk in New York Fashion Week.
The general feeling of the afternoon was lively and evocative, taking all showgoers back to their jeunesse. We hope GlamZ Gala will continue to be a regular event and can’t wait to see new names and faces emerge from the growing talent in Vancouver and beyond.
