The inspiration for the story is the sentiment of Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele, who told Bazaar after his A/W17 show, “If we are going to push the conversation forward then we have to look beyond simply talking about models on the runway, and focus instead on individuality and faces that show humanity.”

I was amazed to see five beautiful Black models, presenting a kaleidoscope of colour showcasing Gucci’s finest.  Images like these are so welcomed, especially on the front page of magazines, I was so surprised that it lead me to pick up the phone and call the Head office of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia ‘Dubai’ to thank them personally for positively representing a range of Black female models of all shades of brown in such an eclectic display “In living colour”.   This marvellous collection offers electric blues to metallic hues, it is breathtakingly beautiful.Junior Style Kids Fashion Blog Harpers Bazaar Arabia April Front Cover - post by Selma Nicholls #selmanicholls #kidsfashion #kidsfashionblogger #fashionmagazine #lookslokieme #harpersbazaar #harpersbazaararabiaLet’s celebrate this brilliant editorial, it is one of a kind, a reflection of our diverse world. This editorial resonates with Looks Like Me, as we believe it’s important to be more than a token model featured within fashion and advertising campaigns and be part of the change we want to see.  Gucci and Harper’s Bazaar are leading by far, inspiring the industry and the world but most importantly is the meaningful impact these powerful images will have on our children with their “Fresh approach to fashion – Embracing a world of beauty”.

Thank you Gucci and Harper’s Bazaar Arabia and congratulations for redefining beauty, raising the profile of underrepresented groups in such a virtuoso and inspirational way.
