Monday Model Feature: Child Model Lulu Lam

12-year-old model Lulu from Ipswich, UK is really proud of her mixed Chinese ethnicity and is really pleased to see that fashion brands are becoming more diverse in the choice of models used in their AD campaigns.

Lulu loves to keep active and one of her favourite lessons at school is physical education. Outside of school, Lulu attends Karate lessons which are taught by her father and uncle. Lulu is almost a black belt in karate and will hopefully become the final member of her family to get their black belt. Lulu also enjoys her English and German lessons and would like to be a famous model as Lulu has ‘always wanted to inspire others to embrace their ethnicity and uniqueness. I believe everyone has a gift and a time to shine no matter their background’.

Which modelling agency are you represented by? Southcoastkidz

Who represents you with regard to acting? Spotlight

Why did you decide to start modelling? I decided that I wanted to start modelling when I was very young. I have always wanted to be famous and inspire others to embrace their ethnicity and uniqueness. I believe everyone has a gift and a time to shine no matter their background.

What is the best part about being a model? The best part of modelling is meeting new people and being made to feel part of something special and having the opportunity to be able to do something I have always wanted to do, and to visit new places, as some children do not get that opportunity, which makes me feel very blessed and grateful to be a model.

Which has been your favourite shoot to date? Working with Lipsy London, as I love being on set with their team. They are like a second family to me and always make me feel so welcome and we always have so much fun on set. I have been lucky enough to shoot with Lipsy London on a regular basis and the clothes always make me feel so pretty.

The Base childrenswear shoot was also amazing. I won this opportunity through a competition.

If you could work with any brand which would be top on your list? Burberry

Which is your top fashion magazine/blog? Vogue

Which models do you look up to for inspiration? Naomi Campbell, Winnie Harlow, Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner.

What is your favourite item in your closet? My all-time favourite item in my closet would probably be my purple Stone Island hoodie, I got this after the Base children’s wear shoot as some of the models were wearing this on set.

Who is your role model? My big sister, Mia.

What are your favourite subjects at school? My favourite subjects at school are English, Physical education & German.

Do you speak any languages? I am learning German and I can speak a few Chinese words that my Grandmother taught me.

What are your hobbies? My hobbies include karate, basketball and football, and hanging out with my friends.

If you could have 3 wishes, what would they be? My first wish would be to become famous and to inspire other children that want to pursue their dreams. My second wish would be to do a shoot somewhere Hot! My third and final wish would be to feature in a high-end magazine like Vogue.

If you could meet anyone in the world who would it be? Winnie Harlow

What is your biggest dream? To become famous and to have people look up to me as a role model.

What is the last book your read & film you saw? The last movie I watched was ‘Puss in Boots’ and the last book I read was ‘Looking at the Stars’ by Lewis Hine.
