Ex-punk mum Veneta and her little fashionista Kaira from the fashion and lifestyle blog EdgyCuts join Junior Style as new contributors. Bringing Mum and Mini Fashion with a twist, preferring edgy and minimal style, this week the duo give us the low down on some of their favourite kid’s clothing labels at the recent Pitti Bimbo trade show held in Florence.
Have you been to Wonderland?
Well, Miss Kaira has. Last week, Kaira and I flew to Italy to attend the 84th edition of Pitti Bimbo, the show where the world of childrenswear meets, showing its most innovative products and styles.
From 19 to 21 January, brands, buyers, and press from all around the globe gathered at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence to show, exchange and scout children’s fashion trends for autumn/winter 2017. For us, it was a chance to not only preview the upcoming collections, but also meet up with some old friends and make new ones.
We went straight to check out the most creative collections, presented at KidzFIZZ, Pitti Bimbo’s concept laboratory. Of course, first on our agenda were our dear friends from Angel’s Face who we finally got the pleasure to meet in person. As well as their all new accessories. Note: THAT trapper hat is a must!

During the show we got introduced to another UK brand that had been on our radar for a while – No Added Sugar – and their witty kidswear produced with high-quality fabrics sourced from Europe, Japan, and England. Really, just look at the fabrics! Could you resist this bird print?
Fabulous fabrics and prints from No Added Sugar.
Off to see some more toned down design, we went on checking what’s in store for next Autumn/Winter from our favourite Nordic brand – Little Remix. New leather garments, anyone? Trousers, skirts, etc.? As usual, this is the place we find the best.
As we jumped on the other side of the Baltic Sea, we visited Unlabel – another Scandi label but with more tender vibes.

Over to SuperStreet, the Pitti Bimbo section that gives a voice to the street trends of kids clothing, we found another Lithuanian brand that amazed us with pristine craftsmanship and attention to details, all in our style – Nikolia.
Nikolia – the brand that is so in sync with our style.
But Kaira’s rock chic DNA showed through at MNML Haute Couture’s stand. Can’t hide such an attitude for a long, can you?

Also, at SuperStreet, we came by Hunter’s stand, then had a quick rest before we hit the dance floor to the rhythm of Pitti Dance Off surrounded by tens of glistening disco balls.

Just a few seconds of rest before…

We peeked inside the Apartment too, where we made friends with the Austrian couture label –
The Small Gatsby and its sweet little baby boy.

In the Main Pavilion, where the big brands and designer names exhibited, we admired the uber soft feel of Yves Salomon Enfant, and the Mini Me styles by MSGM Kids and Aquazzura Mini.

On the Lower Level of the Main Pavilion, as part of the Pitti Bimbo Editorials, we enjoyed a selection of objects and furnishing accessories for and referred to the family’s other little ones.

There we also tried some seriously cool kids furniture and toys from Kartell.
But Miss Kaira truly found herself in Wonderland at the new Fancy Room – the place for special design and technology products for fun, curious lifestyles. There were our favourites from Design Letters & Friends, Caco Design brightly coloured convertible bags, and Kaira’s top favourite – Nailmatic Kids kid-friendly make-up!

Girls can now play dress-up with the super gentle formulas of Nailmatic Kids colourless fruity lip gloss and water-based nail polish.
Miss Kaira’s coverage of the show was made possible with the kind support of Angel’s Face.
