Crisp autumnal days are often the best for exploring and adventure. Perhaps knowing that temperatures are about to drop and nights will be drawing in earlier, is what spurs us to make the most of the daylight.

With this in mind, we packed a rug and sketchbooks and set off to visit one of my favourite places, Witley Court. As a child I spent many afternoons, rolling down the grassy slopes which surround this spectacular ruin.

Despite being ravaged to a husk by a devastating fire in 1937, there is still enough of the building left to transport you back to another era.

Walking around the perimeter of the ballroom, we imagined the extravagant parties and banquets that took place there. We heard that at Christmas they would even decorate a huge tree with jewellery for the female guests!

The skeleton stonework that remains, seemed to provide natural frames to many of the photographs and highlighted the boldness of the Carlotta Barnabe outfit Kitty was wearing.

The AW18 collection from Carlota Barnabe is an explosion of colour and texture, each piece like a bold painting.
