After weeks of conflicting government guidelines on wearing face masks in England, rules regarding the wearing of masks are changing. As of the 24th, anyone over 11 yrs must wear a face mask in shops, supermarkets and enclosed places where social distancing can not be maintained. Children under 11 years old and some people with health issues are exempt from wearing face masks in public.
However, knowing how as parents we put our children’s safety first, I thought I would present to you two new businesses that make kids face masks. Both brands I have tried and tested now make adults masks and I can highly recommend, not just for ease of wear and comfort but also the understated coolness and the fantastic prints. Match with your mini or coordinate with Love Orly or Kate Hills ‘My Lips Are Sealed’ kids face masks! More importantly though, at this moment in time, it is so important to support small businesses.
Love Orly
Eight-year-old Orly loves to craft and draw in her Top Model Design books. During the pandemic, Orly celebrated her birthday and she was given a kid’s sewing machine as a gift and straight away started making headbands, whilst mum Jane started sewing face masks on her own machine given to her by her grandmother.
When out wearing her masks, Orly got many compliments and custom orders and from this, her little business Love Orly was born!
Love Orly started out making kid-size masks & headbands in fun prints, but now the mother and daughter team have diversified to making dresses, adult face masks and headbands. Orly is the designer, picks the fabrics, cuts the patterns and she is also the brands’ ambassador. Mum Jane sews more of the complicated pieces, as “I’m afraid of an accident with her fingers and the sewing machine.” Love Orly products are all handmade with the highest quality of fabrics. The masks are lined with antibacterial cotton and you can find them @loveorlyshop

If you are having trouble getting your little one to wear a mask you might find this blog post on wearing masks and how to explain it to kids useful.
Although these masks cover the face preventing any droplets to enter the mouth, please make sure washing of hands and face is carried out at all times, this is not for total prevention.
