PS – isn’t this crochet crown to die for!
First up is Plum of London who I featured last month in ‘The Great British Cardi’ post – their baby knitwear is made using the finest Royal Alpaca yarn which is amazingly soft and warm. Main image is of their Babies Pure Alpaca Christening Shawl in 50% cotton and 50% Royal Alpaca at £95.00, which is made in England in the same mill that made Prince George’s baby shawl, there is also a 100% 1ply Royal Alpaca version available at £115.00. They also make these adorable hand knitted Bootees (£22.00,) Cardigan (£56.00 ages 1-12 mths and 12-24 mths,) and Bonnet (£23.00,) shown in denim, they are also available in ‘Blush.’ All available at www.plumoflondon.com
Beauty and Baby are a British Made baby and childrenswear brand inspired by nature – they have lovely simple pieces with beautiful hand drawn prints on – perfect for the new Royal Baby would be these delightful Little Wings Romper Suits, in 100% cotton and priced at £14.00, they are available in sizes 6-12 mths and 12-18 mths with a choice of Amethyst, Raspberry or Gold shimmer print wings on the back and all come with the Beauty and the Baby curious fox logo on the front. A long sleeve version is also available at £16.00 for ages 0-3 mths and 3-6 mths. They also make these lovely 100% cotton T-shirts for ages 0 – 6 years, so these would make a perfect gift for a new baby and also an older sibling, available at www.beautyandbaby.co.uk
Corby Tindersticks are a great British brand with a fabulous modern retro feel – all their work is based around the stunning illustrations that they produce which are then turned into wonderful posters, toys and garments. The Bunny Bodysuit (top left) would be ideal for a boy or a girl, made in the UK in 100% (oeko-tex certified) cotton for ages 0 up to 18 mths, this retails at £16.00. Clive the Cat Cushion (top right) would be a lovely present for a new baby’s nursery which would no doubt be cherished for years to come, it is made from linen printed in England and backed with soft canadian bamboo jersey all lovingly hand constructed in their East London studio (£25.00 and approx 39cm tall.)
Bottom right is this quirky grey marl soft jersey toy called rather inventively ‘Ralph Raddish,’ he is made using UK produced fabric, printed with eco friendly ink in Wales and then is finally hand finished in their studio, he is £16, approx 25cm tall and can be hand washed and also for peace of mind carries the CE mark. They also do some great wall art such as posters and size charts, I really love this A3 Mouse poster (bottom left,) which is £12 and printed in England – a really lovely decoration for a childs bedroom and also a great baby gift which would make a change from all the clothes you tend to get!
All are available at their online shop www.corbytindersticks.bigcartel.com
Magnificent Stanley make simple, stylish babywear using Liberty print fabrics, I love the simplicity of them and the nostalgic feel the appliques lend – as some styles can be personalised these make a lovely gift or why not treat your own newborn, I am sure it is something that would be kept in a baby keepsake box! Bottom left (and detail top left,) is their Personalised 100% Cotton Bib which at £8.00 is a great price for something so unique! Top right is the Liberty Print Bunny Cotton Bodysuit at £12.00 and available in ages 0-3 mths / 3-6 mths / 6-12 mths, also available in a long sleeved version. Bottom right is their Personalised Cotton Blanket at £24.00 (measuring 75cm x 75cm.) this will be hand appliqued in the name of your choice in Liberty Print Tana Lawn Cotton, all available to order online at www.magnificentstanley.com
I have just come across this brand this week and I have to say I think these blankets are absolutely stunning! ‘Ama’ the name they have given themselves stems from the fact that ‘Ama’ is a word associated with ‘mother’ and ‘love’ in many languages, often being the first murmurings out of a babes mouth, it is such a fabulous name for this brand. The blankets themselves are made in a centuries old Scottish mill from extra fine merino wool yarns imported from Italy, the idea is that these blankets become family heirlooms passed down through the generations. I have picked my favourites which are (main image and bottom left,) Full Moon (bottom right) Goodnight, both £160 and measuring 70 x 100cm. Centre pic is the wonderful Birthdate blanket which has the year, month and day picked out with a brightly coloured pom pom, £200 and measuring 85 x 100 cm, all available at www.amashop.co.uk
Monkey and Mole make handmade moccasins from their home in Warwickshire from 100% eco leather dyed using safe vegetable dyes, I have featured their moccasins before on a post but when I saw these sandal versions I just had to include them, they are sooo cute! £36.00 and available in a wide range of colours from www.monkeyandmole.com from ages 3-6mths up to 4 years.
I have also featured Celtic & Co before and regular readers will know this Cornish brand which manufactures in Great Britain are a favourite of mine – I remembered that one of the best things I bought when I was first expecting was a sheepskin rug for my newborn to lie on, they are so soft and comforting and are ideal in either Summer or Winter as sheepskin can keep you cool or warm. Celtic & Co make sheepskin rugs (£75.00) but also these other wonderful items – Pushchair Liner (main pic,) £75.00, machine washable, this ‘Puddies & Bootees’ set (£39.00) are an ideal gift set as they come in a lovely branded bag and are available in light blue, oatmeal, pink & whiskey and also this ‘Flatout Bear’ is a really lovely idea for a comforter, another great gift at £50.00 (handwash, measures 30cm tall), all available at www.celticandco.co.uk
So I think there are some fabulous options there for any newborn that comes along, Royal or not!
