Chit Chat with Emma From Gecko Clothing

You may remember we talked to Gecko Clothing back in June about their passion and crowdfunding campaign. Unfortunately their campaign was unsuccessful. However, it seems that was just the beginning for Gecko. We caught up with Emma (The Gecko) to find out what is going on at Gecko Clothing since their crowdfunding campaign ended.

Sorry to hear that the crowdfunding campaign was unsuccessful.  What have you been up to since?

Well, it was a bit of a kicker, but the support and enthusiasm for our designs came in thick and fast so we knew that our idea was viable, and we were pretty quick to dust ourselves off. We got in touch with all our backers, supporters and representative of our toddler testers for feedback, collected all and got back to work tweaking the designs. We also offered our backers and supporters the opportunity to place orders with us at a preferred rate – and they jumped at the chance!

In addition to the changes outlined above we also commissioned them in both nutty nature print and space odyssey.

After putting our dungaree samples through their paces (with our special super mucky and adventurous toddler testers) we took a close look at how they fared.

So the designs are being manufactured?

Whoop!!! They sure are and oh boy are we excited! We have postponed our funky science print for now and moved forward with the space odyssey and nutty for nature prints. In addition to the changes mentioned we also commissioned some 3-4 years sizes and space odyssey dungarees thanks to lots of feedback from our supporters.
In fact we are so excited we opened the website for pre-sales to everyone and are even close to selling out of a couple of sizes already.

When will your new designs land?

They will be with us by the beginning of November ready for distribution. We’ve already had quite a few pre-sales and wholesale orders are coming in too. I can’t begin to explain what an exciting time this is for us. Gecko Clothing is very much a passion-led enterprise of mine and my husbands and our dream which is shared with the whole family. When I picked my 5 year old son Griff up from school last week and told him that shops in Australia and the US wanted to stock Gecko we were both jumping up and down in the yard with excitement!

What does the future hold for Gecko?

Well next we will be releasing our Spring/Summer range for 2016 to stockists, the closest thing to a sneak peek you can have for now is from our wholesale catalogue:

Next season we’ll be plumbing the darkest depths of the ocean for our brightest, funkiest and most unique designs to date! With a range inspired by those special memories of summer holiday adventures, when the sun shone brighter and adventure was rife in the air.

We will be focussing on growing our lines over the coming seasons to offer more Gecko goodness. As we grow we will want to stay connected to our customers and continue to ask for feedback and involvement.

We will also let you into a little secret…

The whale image used for our colouring competition could be considered a little bit more of a sneak peek for the Spring/Summer 2016 range…
