“We feel that it is so important for kids of colour to be able to see positive images that look like them in the media.” – Kahran from CrestiveSoul Photography.
The Atlanta-based couple, who run CreativeSoul Photography, Regis and Kahran created their Afro Art Series project to celebrate the beauty and versatility of natural hairstyles of Black girls and to counter-attack the lack of diversity in popular media. Travelling to various states, New York, California, Texas, and Georgia, the couple captured girls rocking their natural looks in stunning portraits.
From Baroque-style portraits to high-fashion looks to a steampunk aesthetic, each of their shoots in the Afro Art series has a different theme.
Regis and Kahran hope that girls around the world will be inspired to love their unique differences and beauty within.
