We had a very mild Autumn and the first part of the December wasn’t too bad either, but as I write this some parts of the UK have expeienced the first flurries of snow. Over the past few years we have definitely gone back to winters that I remember as a kid- freezing cold with ice snow! Wrapping up warm against the elements is a must-particularly for the little ones and luckily there are some great items around that not only do the job they were designed to do but also look stylish.
The online store- Mayamin– is a great place to stock up on chic, practical winter layers. It makes a big diiference that Linn, who owns the website, is from Scandinavia- so she knows all about dressing for warmth in her native country. She is certainly an expert in this area and if you want to pick up some tips on what materials to choose and how to layer them up then make sure you read the post she wrote for JSL here.
Starting with some good thermal underwear- I love this design from the Woolba range featuring a cute reindeer print on leggings and bodies and available in two different colours. They are made from wool and bamboo so let your childs skin breath and help regulate body temperature. Another fab range-especially for the older kids is the Activist collection– again made from gorgeous merino wool and featuring bold graphic prints.
Cosy and chic knitwear also features on the site- a few of my favourites are the Lina Knit Tunic Dress– I love the pretty lilac hue, the Forest Knit Sweater featuring cute forest animals in a lovely pale blue and for the babies you cannot beat this versatile unisex grey cable knitted cardigan .
Finally when battling the elements, the kids need a warm and waterproof coat and Mayamin have some great choices by scandi brand Mini-a-Ture. For the babes this all-in-one snowsuit is ideal. It’s available in four colours and features two practical zippers to make it easier to take on and off. The Wang coat in this vibrant tomato red not only looks great but is super practical too and the Wicki coat is more fitted and slightly longer in the body. Whatever you choose you can be rest-assured the kids will be nice and toasty and snug!
