JS: Where do you get your inspiration from for the shoots with Gianna?
GT: First of all, thank you so much for this opportunity to share with you! I’m excited to be a guest on your blog. My inspiration for shoots usually come first from the design of the garment. Sometimes I will see a location or an idea right away that would best compliment the pieces I’m styling. My goal in photography is always to create an image that is inviting to the viewer. So, my inspiration comes from places that evoke emotion, mood, and message. My faith is a big part of me, so even though my photos are meant to help promote beautiful clothing, I also hope to promote the beauty all around us as well. When I’m shooting Gianna, I make sure we visit places where she can explore and have fun. Every moment is filled with inspiration, it’s just a matter of bringing perspective to it.
JS: When did your love of photography start?
GT: My mother was a photographer when I was young. I would always see her with a camera in hand growing up. When I was growing up, I had an appreciation for photography and fashion, but not a love. I think because I was interested in so many different things in life, I didn’t focus in on any particular thing. I originally went to school for art and design and then switched gears to nursing. My heart is for people, first and foremost.
I’ve always had a desire to create, ever since I was little. Whether it was painting, drawing, sculpture, design, or just creating a magical forest night light out of sticks surrounded by a bulb- my life has been fascinated with the wonder and beauty around us. When Gianna was born, I started posting regularly on my Instagram account and I found that it was a fun hobby for me. I think this was the time that my creativity surge poured everything I had into photography.
JS: What do you like about kids fashion?
GT: I had no idea this amazing world of kids fashion even existed until three years ago. What I love is that kids fashion is a growing industry, filled with extremely talented designers. I love that kids can have fun exploring what styles they love at an early age. It’s never too early to have fun with clothes!
JS: Which are your favourite kid’s fashion brands?
GT: Ahhhh, there are so many good ones to name but I have sentimental ties to the designers behind the brands that work so hard to create amazing lines for kids. Brands such as Nikolia, Dancing in the Grass, Hilda Henri, Milapinou, The Small Gatsby and Gardner and the Gang just to name a few. I fell in love with Infantium Victoria when I saw it as well. There are a rising number of handmade designers that make incredibly gorgeous pieces also, such as Brass Razoo, Aggie and Francois, Devon’s Drawer, Ma Belle Mademoiselle, Modern Queen Kids And Zuzii Footwear. The list truly goes on and on.
JS: What is it that appeals to you with Infantium Victoria?
GT: I love the vision behind the brand. I love the edgy + sophistication of the line. It’s everything I would want to wear myself.
JS: What is Gianna’s everyday style?
GT: Gianna loves mixing and matching everything. Gianna knows exactly what she wants to wear and she has a pretty good eye too. Gianna would wear boots every day if she could, but most days she wears something amazing.
JS: What is Gianna’s favourite outfit?
GT: A Rylee and Crew swan tank top that she loves to wear. Gianna also loves her snake dress from Dancing in the Grass.
