Life is like a balloon. If you never let yourself go, you will never know how far you will rise! – Unknown.

In discussion with creative director Samantha Hahn.

JS: Where did you get the inspiration for this photo shoot?

SH:I have always loved The Red Balloon “Le Ballon Rouge” a 1956 French fantasy comedy-drama written, produced and directed by Albert Lamorisse. I grew up reading the book and was smitten with the images of the boy and his balloon and how the balloon became his loyal friend. I thought it would be lovely to pay homage to the story in the form of a kid’s fashion editorial. Le Ballon De L’Amitié is a nod to the classic French school age style with a modern twist.

Le Ballon De L’Amitié tells the story of a little boy and a little girl who are both lonely, each child with their balloon. When the children meet each other, they are happy and tie their blue and red balloons together to create a purple one in celebration of friendship, fashion and colour.
