Roska features recycled & reimagined plastic designs created by sisters artists Sisko Sisko. “ROSKA” means trash in Finnish.
Finnish sisters Tarja and Anna are known as the Salvage Sisters or Sisko Sisko which means ‘sisters’ in their mother tongue. The girls would like to share with you a joint project to get to re-think your views on waste and how it can be transformed into something beautiful.
This is the first of many projects for the sisters who are living, breathing and creating wearable art every day! Tarja and Anna aim to ignite the spark in others with the latest collection is a series of colourful, fun, wearable waste fashion for children.

A little more on photographer Luca Prodigo: Luca Prodigo was born in Bologna, Italy and now lives in Sydney. Luca has a lot of experience working as a Creative Director and Photographer in kids fashion over the last 12 years. Inspired by Illustration arts that are quirky and edgy style.
Luca was really inspired by Sisko Sisko’s design pieces and vision into the kids clothing industry with their conceptual pieces to wear. Luca loves the concept of plastic reusable and recycled materials found on the street that have been turned into art by he sisters Laura & Tarja.

For sisters, Anna and Tarja waste is a beautiful thing. Something to be treasured, reimagined and transformed into delightful, imaginative creations.
Having recently moved to Sydney the pair have been constantly amazed at the amount of street waste they see. Most of the plastic waste they see is in perfectly fine and good working condition. A total waste in their eyes. With this, the girls decided to put the rubbish to good use and get creating and designing. Anna is a known local award-winning artist, painting bright, colourful, bold acrylic painting. And, Tarja is a performance artist and costume imaginer and designer.
Why Salvaged Fashion? Growing up, both Tarja and Anna that waste wasn’t an option. In their household, they needed to re-use it, mend it, or sell it. You can imagine how well that went down for the two fashion-obsessed teenagers. But that didn’t stop them. It just spurred them on to find creative, innovative ways to look like a million dollars on a shoe-string budget. Re-purposing and reimagining tired pieces of clothing finds from second-hand stores, or hand me downs from friends. So salvaging and repurposing is truly in their blood.
The sisters were ahead in the first instance, with regards to the wearable waste trend sweeping the world right now.
Further Information on Illustrator Kashka Rae Kennie: By day Illustrator Kashka Rae Kennie is a creative director for a photography brand in Melbourne and by night is the main illustrator for “HIM AND HER”. Each artwork is Inspired by feminine beauty, embracing powerful women and their bodies …and a whole lot of layers!
Her studio is filled with one-off pieces from local artists, huge neon signs and a selection of signed and numbered prints all with their own story. Kashka believes artwork should give you that warm and fuzzy feeling of being spontaneous and getting something that you’ve didn’t know you wanted. Follow on Instagram @himandherart
