There is so much to love about kids’ fashion, and you’re certainly not want for choice when you start browsing through the Spring collections. Bold colours and prints are fun and attract a lot of attention, such as happy orange shades and animal prints.
There is something special, though, about the understated cool and beautiful styles you tend to see in Scandinavian designs, underlining quality and functionality with the playful child in mind. The colours used are still bright and fresh of course, tuning into the mood of the lighter, longer days ahead.
Flower Power
Flower prints spread happiness on skirts, shorts, rompers and dresses this season. I love how all the colours in the Bria Shorts makes it easy and fun to pick out a matching item to wear with it. Nice and quick so you can get outside and play in the sun. And how lovely is the “glow” red colour with all the little flowers scattered across the Alira dress? Or the daisies on the Cathinca romper? These will put a big smile on your little girl’s face. (All Aya Naya).
Minty Fresh
Various shades of green are appearing in boys’ and girls’ fashion items alike. I love the Legolas T-shirt (MINI A TURE) in “agate green” with a great ship print at the front. The “soft mint” colour of the Marilyn lace dress (MeMini) is adorable and really accentuates the lovely details on the dress. The Birla T (Aya Naya) comes in a light green and features a gorgeous sequin heart balloon – perfect for play or party.
New Nostalgia
Scandinavian design is great at providing the ‘nostalgic look’ with classic styles and quality materials, which is in vogue this season. Norwegian MeMini is one of the brands bringing out must-have pieces for both boys and girls. The Kristian Shirt is classic and versatile, creating a great set with the Linus Tweed Shorts. The India dress has a real air of nostalgia with multi-coloured dots scattered across the woven cotton fabric. And for the very yongest in the family, have a look at the Nori romper (faded rose) and the Cruz romper (faded blue). Sweet details in super soft eco cotton knit.
Navy Waves
Navy blue must be said to be an ever-green, and it’s on the scene now with nautical themes such as the “sailor suit” design and boat prints. I love the Grace sailor dress and the Aiden sailor cardigan, both in great quality summer knit. And I have to show you the Lyon jumper with the super cute sail boat, as well as the rainset with boat print (All MeMini). The Phillip Hoodie from MINI A TURE is fot, comfortable, and of course featues navy stripes. Summer Ahoy!
I know I’m definitely ready fpr lighter, longer days, and hopefully hazy dazy ones. Luckily, come rain or shine, Scandinavian style keeps your young ones cute, comfortable and cool as they hop, skip and laugh their way through the warmer season. Which items are your favourites?
