I have put togther today a few of my favourite brands and websites that manage to pull off the Kids Retro Cool look perfectly…
A fabulous Made in Britain label which produces all its styles from upcycled or vintage fabric is My Sister Mabel (www.mysistermabel.com) They make mainly dresses but also do some skirts, bags and accessories, the styles are limited edition so once they’re gone, they’re gone! I have featured a selection that are currently available on the wesbite – Main Pic, Upcycled Scandinavian Fabric Pinafore Dress SD26, age 3-4 £22, age 5-6 £24 – Top Right, Upcycled Scandinavian Fabric Tunic Dress TN7 Age 1-2 £20 – Middle Right, Upcycled Cherry Print Fabric Pinafore Dress SD25 age 1-2 £20, age 3-4 £22 – Bottom Right Marvel Comic Fabric Pinafore Dress SD31 age 1-2 £22. Follow them on twitter and facebook to keep updated with new styles as they are made.
Another favourite Made in Britain Label of mine is Brit Chic Signature (www.britchicsignature) they make pan seasonal clothing for girls in a colourful and creative way with a modern retro vibe. Using high quality UK sourced fabrics and their own exclusive line of inhouse designed prints, their collection includes 60’s style shift dresses, floaty shirt style dresses & tops, crochet tops and for babies as well as cute mini versions of their mainline dresses there is also some stunning knitwear & booties. I have selected a few of my favourites above – Left is the Quant A- Line Limited Edition Flower Dress £49, available in age 0-3 up to 4-5, Centre is the Vintage Pink Crochet Smock Top which features a beautiful shell pattern and a cute bow detail £65, available in ages 2-3 & 4-5 and also in blue and purple colours, Right is the Quant A-Line Birds Dress £63, available currently in age 2-3.
Little Mooshoo (www.littlemooshoo.com) is a Swiss based company that sell their own label as well as other labels from around the world, the feel is definitely fun and retro but also with a clean, modern feel, I like the selection as a lot of it has a great unisex appeal and it is nice to see something a bit different for the boys. They also have a lovely selection of accessories and gifts that would make ideal stocking fillers.
Top left is their best selling Red Chevron Jumper from L’Asticot for ages 2-8 it is priced at £55, this is also available in petrol blue. Bottom Right is their own label Little Mooshoo Dusky Grey Floral Top, priced at £32, this is available in ages 2-3 up to 5-6. I really love their underwear and pyjamas and have featured a couple of the boys styles -Top Right is the Set of 3 Boys Boxer Pants which feature some great quotes and come in their own canvas drawstring bag with a cute retro illustration on the front (they do a girls version too!) Priced at £26.00 and available in ages 2, 4 & 6yrs. The Rocket Pyjamas from L’Asticot (bottom left) also have a fab retro vibe and are in a lovely 92% organic cotton 8% elastane, brushed inside for extra cosiness, these are priced at £36 and are for ages 2-8 years.
Jessie Jumbles (www.jessiejumbles.com) is a relatvely new find of mine, but it was love at first site with those hairclips and bobbles – they are just too cute! They make here in the UK button covered accessories in the form of hairclips, hair bobbles, bracelets, rings, earrings, badges and magnets in lots of different fabrics all with a lovely vintage or retro feel. The hair bobbles are priced at £5 (£5.65 for the larger size Rainbow one,) the hair clips are £4.95, the button badges (Red Bus pictured) are £4 and the rings are £2.95, these are all must have stocking fillers and there are even some Christmas designs so what more could you ask for!
Another website to mention is www.rowdyroddyvintage.com which really offers something different, it has a great selection of Designer Kids Clothing but also a Vintage and Designer Seconds section. They also have a fab offering on gifts – I really love the idea of the Rockabye Baby Lullaby Renditions CDs covering bands such as the Pixies, Johhny Cash and AC/DC to name but a few – I wish these had been around when my two were babies! They also have a really great selection of Retro kids toys – another great place to do some Christmas shopping – better get started!
I hope you have enjoyed this month’s post, as always would love to hear if you have any comments or suggestions, Clare x
