‘These moments are timeless, classic, and easily relatable to all mamas throughout the world. Motherhood is an experience and no matter where you live, or your culture, so many of our everyday moments are the same.’ – Stylist Jill Rothstein.
Q & A with Stylist Jill Rothstein
JS: What was the inspiration behind the editorial?
JR: The entire shoot was inspired by a vintage high chair that I had grabbed from a friend who was about to throw it out about 2 years ago. I have been waiting to create a shoot based on this high chair ever since.
We then decided to create an editorial where we would feature a model in everyday iconic scenes with her baby.
JS: How did you choose the model Peyton for the shoot?
JR: I have worked with Peyton before and she is a gorgeous and amazing model. Peyton, was thrilled to find out that the concept was “Little Mama”, where she would be the mama to a little baby.
JS: Why was featuring a mama carrying out her daily tasks so important to show?
JR: These moments are timeless, classic, and easily relatable to all mamas throughout the world. Motherhood is an experience and no matter where you live, or your culture, so many of our everyday moments are the same.
We wanted the model to be in everyday scenes with her baby that every mama is in on the daily. The shot of Peyton in pink curlers, provided by genius hair stylist, Corey Tuttle, was an important shot. Having the mama multi-tasking, having her hair done, tending to her new baby, talking on the phone felt iconic to me. Reading to her baby, getting ready for a night out, cooking feeding the baby in that vintage high chair, getting ready to go for a walk outside. The many tasks a mother carries out each day, we felt it was important to capture these moments.
This is for all the Mama’s out there!
