Nautical fashion is a timeless summer look. It’s fresh, playful and, above all, a must-wear for days out at the seaside. However, when it comes to kids’ style, it’s easy to get lost in a sea of, dare I say it, cutesy sailor collars, anchors and boat prints. All of which are very sweet, but being a city mum I love kids’ fashion with a touch of street cred.
I’m all about giving this perennial fashion trend a style reboot. I’ve moved it forward, while still celebrating its traditional maritime influences. That means stripes are bolder, prints are more graphic and motifs and colours are playfully chic.
There are new textures such as chambray and denim. This seasons must have, check trend, also makes an appearance, clashing the classic Breton stripes with a graphic twist. Nautical purists, it’s time to have some fun with slouch cuts and design-led silhouettes!
So, here’s to nautical kids fashion to play in, a little less formal, but a whole load of cool.
