One of the best things about moving to a new area is the chance to get out and explore more. Each time we have walked along this stretch of the canal, I have been drawn to take a closer look at the moored boats, enticed by the cosy smell of logs burning on stoves.
Recently, we were lucky enough to be invited on board a traditional Hudson built narrow boat to take a look around and meet their pet tortoise, Herbie.
The owners showed us some of the beautiful hand-painted artwork which adorns the rear of the cabin and explained that originally one of the wooden pull out drawers would have been used as a cot for a baby.
It seems that living this way brings with it a simpler, more natural way of life. The owners talked about how liberating it has been to move here and how much their daily living has changed.
Becoming more environmentally conscious and not taking resources, water or power for granted are values which resonate strongly with the clothing brand Long Live the Queen. Using up-cycled fabrics, organic jerseys and soft knits, the clothing label too are on a journey to reduce their footprint.
Long Live the Queen’s collections contains a number of limited editions and easy to wear styles aimed at girls between 4-14 years old.
It seems Herbie was pretty impressed by the softness of the maxi too!
